Avoidable consequence?

A grannie client recently moved from independent living to personal care.  The move was unavoidable, but one consequence of the change is that she no longer gets the rather extensive exercise routine of going from her room, down to the main floor, along a long - often very social - hall to the dining room, back again, then the same trek only longer to go out mid-afternoon & back again, then back down AGAIN with the same or longer trek to dinner.

Now, her life is basically circumscribed to within the personal care unit.  Her exercise is almost non-existent compared to what she was doing.  While it's true that she took a couple tumbles & fainted, which necessitated the move, it seems to me that not getting at least more of a portion of the activity that was her norm is taking a toll.  Movement was her norm; now, it's scheduled.

That feels to me to be an avoidable consequence, that she should be at least making treks down to breakfast - which is still a fraction of the distance she once traveled - & on a mid-afternoon ramble, just for the sake of energizing.

Just callin' 'em likes I sees 'em!
