For the past month or so, my John has been tootling around about once a week with an older friend. Richard, a Lehigh County artist, nips down to Montco for the weekend to visit his daughter & her family. And to have a ramble with John.
Because they often get together on Mondays, when most galleries are closed, I suggested John arrange lunches with artist friends associates acquaintances. Food, friends & art talk seemed a sure-fire formula for fun afternoons. And it was!
Tuesday started out with a late morning visit to Glencairn. Richard - always the artist - particularly enjoyed the Arts & Crafts aspects of the building. Oh, and the elevator ride up to the tower, with its smashing view of the countryside (will do again on a clearer day!).
The highlight of the day's outing was picking up Alan, a retired artist & longtime friend of ours, for lunch. It was thanks to Alan that the three guys didn't have me with them - he backed me up when John thought I should come too. How different it would have been with a girl - and non-artist! - along.
John came through our front door a good hour later than usual. While it messed up my own afternoon plans (we have GOT to get a 2nd car!), I was way more delighted than disappointed. The two print artists - one a former professor, the other a retired art director - hit it off right from the start. Lunch was a blast & they ended up with a long linger at Alan's.
Am so pleased that it all went so well. Which one of our artist friends & acquaintances do we ask on the next outing, in two weeks? And can it possibly be as big a hit as yesterday? Stay tuned!
