Saturday nights are supposed to be dinner at a grannie client's senior residence, followed by a quick nip to the local Chili's for a nightcap. Ah, but yesterday the sky was too blue, the daffodils were too beckoning, the magnolias were too gorgeous. Out we went, on an early evening drive.
What fun to loop through her hometown, to see masses of golden daffodils, the great flowering trees, the people out walking in sleeve-less shirts & shorts! To head up across the little reservoir at the local nature center, ringed with woodland & welcoming water fowl for the evening's rest. To drive up & down mountains... okay, hills. Past farms first settled in the early 1700s, across rushing streams, through a covered bridge. To see six deer munching to our right, then a trio of Shetland ponies to our left. Then, in the dying light, to beat it back toward home & dinner at Applebees (& yet another staff that treats my g.c. like visiting royalty).
Scuttled our original plans, but what better reason than to celebrate the long-delayed, wildly welcome SPRING!
