When I walk through local senior residences, tagging up with older friends for a fun event or outing, it gets me wondering about their response to Election 2016. Especially the older ones, the men & women who were young adults, teens or kids during World War II, whose first vote was for FDR or Wilkie - Truman or Dewey - Ike or Stevenson.
It gets me thinking about my parents, how they would be fretting if they were still with us, in their 80s or 90s. They always talked about "the political arena," but I wonder what they would think about it being filled with snarling lions & gladiators going in for the kill.
I feel for our oldest generation. This is the democracy they fought for, whether in Europe or the Pacific, Korea or Vietnam?
There are times I am seriously glad Mom & Dad are not around. This is surely one of them.
