Oh give thanks....

In the midst of what has been an unimaginably tragic week in my little hometown, have found solace thinking about my brother, Ian, and my father, both of whom slipped from us, fourteen years apart - 1959 & 1973, around this time of year, and of my mother, Katharine Reynolds Lockhart, who around this time fourteen years ago was still very much with us, blogging about the joys of marriage & Internet wizardry.

This week has gotten me thinking about how much both my parents nurtured my inner Mame Dennis Burnside - always encouraging me to Live! Live! Live!  

I thank them.  I thank my brothers & sister, who showed me - in so many ways - the importance of living deeply & sucking the marrow out of life.  I thank all the situations & circumstances that have buffeted & blessed my life.  I thank John, who helps pull it all together.  I thank everyone & everything that's contributed, large & small, to this moment, and the next & next.
