Fair weather FUN!

Driving home from a delish breakfast at Fred's (Thursday is quiche day - yum!) & quick nip across the Delaware to do a spot of banking in Lambertville, was hit with mega inspiration - - offer a mid-weekend overnight, where John & I serve as chauffeurs & guides to the fun spots in our favorite twin cities.  Lambertville, NJ & New Hope, PA.

We always get a great deal on a room at Porches on the Towpath, so it wouldn't be any financial hardship for us.  The other couple or pair of friends or even solo adventurer would only have to pay for their/his/her room, meals & costs.  The two of us would be doing it for the joy of helping someone escape from the ordinary into a magical spot tucked into a picture-book charming little town, across from our adopted hometown.

Imagining the fun!  We could plan the 24+ hours with our fellow travelers or, if they/he/she prefer, the itinerary could be a surprise to them.  We could go out to dinner together ~or~ drop them off for a private tete-a-tete.  Praise be for cell phones, one call & we'd be there to whisk them away in no time!

We could do breakfast at Porches (John Byers' repasts are always wonderful) & do a ramble around New Hope, then be at Fred's at 11:00 a.m. for an early lunch - Thursday is, after all, quiche day.  Or bid adieu to New Hope for a ramble up the River Road, maybe up to Frenchtown & west to Clinton, or be wild & crazy, driving up to the Delaware Water Gap for a piece of the best pie east of the Big Muddy.

It would be a blast!  And because we wouldn't be charging anything, it's even sort of easily affordable for older friends to indulge themselves.  (Porches ain't cheap, but GREAT value for the money.)  Am always mindful that Mom couldn't have afforded the fun & frolics we all enjoyed.  Want to make foolish frolic available for as many of my older friends as possible.

What appeals most to me about the idea is the thought of older friends going out on a lark, 24 hours of kicking back & letting the sunshine into their hearts & souls.  Imagining it as a great anniversary present from kids to parents, from a spouse, a quick & fabulous "girls overnight out," even a full day of blissful solitude in meditation-welcoming settings.

Too many times, people don't barge forward with an idea because it's not a money maker or seems impractical.  Have learned over the years that it's more powerful for individuals & the bigger world to be a memory maker.  As far as being impractical - am constantly astonished by the spectacular things that have blossomed from what seemed like impractical seeds.

Ready to offer some seriously expansive fair weather FUN!
