Dream Catcher - critter love

Mom wrote about a lot of wonderful things in her Mindwalker1910 postings, but there's one I wish she'd taken time to pen.  We have a picture from around 1918 with her & Aunt Betty & Uncle Bob, with his dog, Buddy. Whenever she mentioned Buddy's name, Mom's voice took on a special softness.  When she thought of her older brother & his loyal companion, her words were filled with a tenderness that spoke volumes about her sense of the two.  But I never urged her to write a memoir of Buddy & Uncle Bob.

Buddy was a Golden Retriever.

As adults, the relationship between brother & sister would be...  Not sure how to describe.  It wasn't until my late teens that I even knew Uncle Bob was still alive - had assumed he'd died before my birth, because he was never mentioned.

Whatever had happened between them left a wound that never fully healed, although serendipity brought them back together in the early '70s.  In touch, but never close.

But Bob & Buddy?  Mom had nothing but full-throttle affection for those two.  It would have been lovely for her to write about them, to feel the affection & joy she took in being with a boy & his dog.

Reminded of that reading a story on Greater Good about a 2-leg & the rescued pooch who stole her heart.  Started imagining Cyber Access for the Technically Timid up & running, me working in tandem with older friends to honor memories of beloved animal companions, posting them online with pictures or just painting in words heart scenes with their beloved.  Imagining a blog dedicated to preserving honoring celebrating such priceless unforgettable moments in time - moments spent with beloved animals of every sort.

It's a forever sorrow that I never had Mom post memories of Bob & Buddy.  Will make up for that loss by doing all I can to empower & enable others to remember with love the critters who touched their lives.
